Yamaha yzf-r1 is one of the most popular models of Yamaha Company. Its production began in the year 1998 and continues still in the year 2013. This motorcycle is the flagman of the sport subdivision of other vehicles, produced by the company. The model was subject to different innovations through the years of production. The wheelbase, the motor and other parts were changed to a great extent. That is why the motorcycle looks very much changed from what we saw in the year 1998.
The most recent versions are equipped with the 998cc inline four-cylinder engine delivering 157bhp which corresponds to the top speed of 185mph. though the bike is not as powerful as one may expect, it is very decent on cornering, where acceleration works very efficiently. Such parameters of the engine, as its irregular layout make the power delivery linear and smooth. That is why Yamaha yzf-r1 is a perfect roadster. It has already become equipped with loads of room, but they don’t actually influence the speed and handling. It just has influenced the price: it has become too spicy. In general, the bike is rather fast and smooth to ride and handle.
The weight of the bike is rather heavy: it is about 206kg. So the dimensions suggest it to be a large vehicle. The tires installed are of sport type and don’t look overweight. The weight, length and height make it a very easy to control motorcycle both at high and low speed. The legroom of the most recent versions has become much extended. The same happened to the cargo departments.
The models, produced after the year 2012 are equipped with standard traction control system. It is easy to manage while the indicators are easy to read and use. The instrument panel preserves the traditional indicators used in its predecessors of previous years. There are also special buttons on handlebars, which enable to get access to additional options.
Though the bike is rather durable, it is also very expensive, while it abounds in space for legs, luggage and other stuff. It works well on the highway, providing great control at different speed limits. The indicators reflect parameters of the engine with efficiency. Different versions were produced through the years of the production, but the general feel and style still preserved even nowadays.
