The Indian enthusiasts and faithful followers of brand Ford will be in for a delightful surprise this year with the manufacturer’s plans of launching here four models. The three of these fantastic four are known already, and the list includes Figo Hatchback, Figo Aspire sedan and the next-generation Endeavour SUV. The fourth entrant in the list is expected to be the Mustang Coupe, being produced in RHD guise; the production is under the ‘One Ford’ programme’ for first time in its 51year history.
To be launched later in the year is Ford Aspire, which was unveiled with the inauguration of Ford’s Sanand plant. The Figo hatchback as expected will be quite similar to the compact sedan, save the fact that it comes minus the boot. These two are expected to come with two petrol engines and a diesel engine. The diesel engine will be a 4-cylinder 1.5litre unit taken from the Ford Ecosport and Fiesta. The Endeavour which was launch last year is already a hit with many and is currently being sold in several Asian markets, including China. Its position will be the same as the ongoing SUV and is to be offered with two diesel engines in the least along with transmission options.
The halo product of Ford becomes the Mustang, which owing to its arrival in India through the CBU route, will be launched in limited numbers. The launch of this model occurred in 2014, and its 2016 model is expected to be received here in India this year. The engine powering the Mustang is to be the all-American 5.8litre supercharged V8 mill as well as the 3.7litre V6 mill.
A surprise in the form of B-Max MPV may also be in store for its Indian fans which will be offered with multiple engines, with at least three variants of both diesel and petrol variety.
