Maruti is coming up with the new model code named YRA which will be globally launched next year. The upcoming model will be placed above the Swift in the world lineup of Suzuki and will be locking horns with Hyundai Elite i20 directly which also has climbed a notch above in the segment.
First of the spy pictures show Maruti YRA in production garb and offers a pretty clear idea of what should we expect of the hatch’s appearance. Impressions of the picture shows that Suzuki has stuck to the family-look for styling hence played it safe by retaining the looks spotted on the Swift first.
According to the impression the hatch will have having increased width and this means more cabin space which will be competitive to the market though not trend setting. Wide grille with honeycomb treatment of Suzuki is expected and headlamps are expected to be placed at the far end of the corners. As a new you can expect chrome surround in V-shape at the bottom and the front bumpers will be styled on the conservative with wide air-intakes, vertically placed daytime running lights and fog lamp inserts. Notably the day time running lamp is expected to be provided by Maruti as a first in India as regular feature.
For the sides you find the doors of the YRA much larger than it is with the Swift and wing mirrors found place on the doors in placed of the conventional A-pillar mounting. The test YRA was found abroad was with large alloys, wing mirrors and turn indicators but the one saw in the spy picture was sporting smaller steel made wheels and without wing mirror indicators. Powerplant for the upcoming YRA from Maruti will be a 1.2 and 1.4 L petrol engine variants and a diesel 1.3 L.
