The Renault Duster has officially crossed the one lakh sales mark in India, declared the company. Launched almost two years ago in June 2012, the sports utility vehicle has helped Renault carve a niche for itself in a previously unoccupied and unexplored segment of the market.
The highly competitive Indian auto market was giving Renault a real headache with the company unable to get its pricing right across all its products.
But with the Renault Duster, it has seen its fortunes reverse in a dramatic fashion and claim a spot among the top ten car manufacturers in India.
The Renault Duster is a shortened SUV which gives the space, comfort and road presence of an off-road vehicle while making sure the handling and fuel economy of the vehicle remain true to its tarmac based roots.
The vehicle has been a tremendous hit with the Indian public, along with the Ford Ecosport, who just loved the space as well handling of the vehicle. One of the few cars to escape the downward graph that all models were victims of, it is still a strongly selling model in its segment.
To mark the achievement Renault is releasing a special limited edition model which will be priced at 9.99 lakh INR (ex-showroom Delhi).
