The Ford Fiesta, one of the American manufacturer’s marquee brands, was shown in a new avatar at the recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo. The latest reports hint that the car may be released with only diesel power plant with a petrol engine to come later.
The car will have a front wheel drive setup with a healthy 89bhp at a suitable 204Nm of torque. The 1.5l diesel which is being considered for use will be mated to a five speed manual transmission unit.
The Ecoboost engine, with a capacity of around 1.0l, might be offered later. But since the engine is a costly affair it may be available only in the higher variants.
Ambient, Trend and Titanium would be the three cuts the car comes out in, with Titanium being the top of the line version. Ambiente would be priced very competitively since many of the usual sedan features are missing in the variant.
Till now the car has failed to make any sort of impact in the highly congested C-segment due to inappropriate pricing as well as a severe shortage of space inside the car. The facial uplift has done better to correct certain wrongs but the price remains very crucial and it is yet to be seen whether Ford will be able to hit the right note.
