BMW Company has created a hybrid Concept X5 eDrive that is shown on the pictures. From the initial crossover this vehicle differs externally by several blue lines on the bumpers and radiator grille that are made in the same tone and style that was created for ecological brand BMW i. Original railings created specifically for this concept and 21-inch streamlined wheels are installed as well.
The novelty refers to the class of connected hybrids that have the ability to recharge from the socket. That is why the parameters for exclusively electric mode are much more impressive than the rest of the hybrid Range Rovers are ready to offer. In a pure electric mode this vehicle is able to accelerate up to 120 km/hour and drive for 30 km of road. Hybrid power plant consists of four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo motor and synchronically placed electric engine with 95 hp of capacity.
The interesting thing is that such plant was created by BMW engineers. Overall capacity of the unit is not yet revealed but the company states that to gain the 100 km/hour speed from 0 Concept X5 eDrive needs less than seven seconds.
At the Frankfurt Auto Salon this hybrid will be shown together with the electric BMW i3 hatchback. The driver of this vehicle can select from three modes of operation: intellectual hybrid, where electronics chooses the balance between electric and ICE engines to gain the maximum balance and efficiency, and fully electric mode to spend less battery charge. In addition, driver can use the assistant’s notes that helps select perfect driving mode based on the data from navigation system. Navigation also shows the placement of nearest public charging stations.
German manufacturer also states that highly powered lithium battery that is hidden under the trunk floor has slightly shortened trucks capacity. This seems like not that big of a problem since passenger’s seats stay the same as they were. The concept can be charged from the usual socket as well as from the high-voltage rapid charging station.
